The MACC likes to be compared against the ICAC of Hong Kong. MACC even stated once that the ICAC was impressed by and followed the MACC's model of operation.
I do not know what is the total number of employees in the MACC currently, but the announcement that another 5000 personnel would be employed soon made me have a look at how many employees there are at the Hong Kong ICAC.
According to the
ICAC website, the ICAC employs a grand total of 1200.
In one swoop, the MACC will add more headcount than what is currently available for the whole of the ICAC!! (I cannot find the total head count at MACC now, so, cannot compare current head count)
I think we can conclude something here:
- the MACC must be very inefficient
- there must be heck a lot more corrupt practices in Malaysia
- the MACC is seriously understaffed, which is seriously affecting it's work performances
- unemployment is high in Malaysia and something must be done to correct this
I dont think we will ever know the answer; but the fact is, we will be hiring about 4.2 times more NEW employees than what the Hong Kong ICAC currently have.
Amazing....
