Red Coral Trout for dinner

Finally, the red coral trout was cooked for dinner. AND, it tasted real good.

The fish was caught at Karang Luas off Pekan about 3 weeks ago. This was only about half the fish; the head portion. Fish was sliced into two, length wise. Half was cooked in curry and the other half steamed.

E200K, Avantgarde, Estate

I hope to get this soon.....

It is called by various description: estate, wagon, tourer...

Went to see and tested one of this beauty a few days ago. Also went to see other models, such as the E240 sedan, BMW 5 series, the Toyota Estimas. Such vehicles, new, would be quite prohibitive, especially the Avantgarde range of Mercedes Benz. So, will probably settled for a used unit.

The unit I tested was the E200K, Avantgarde Estate with just about every available options factory installed. It has sunroof, full leather seats, three row of seatings, sensor parking, the works. It is not new, being 4 years old, but according to the speedometer, it has only done less than 5000 km. The guy selling it has sold a few Benzs to my boss, and I dont think he would dare to not tell the truth. A new unit cost in excess of RM420,000!!. A bit ridiculous...

Almost there.... All I need to do now is to get the money to buy it!!

Worm of a low life form

On Saturday night, my family and I went to Carrefour Subang Jaya to get some stuff. The girls were off somewhere and I was holding on to the shopping cart waiting in queue.

Suddenly, there was this lowly worm of a life form that told me ' to get my ass out of his way'. I was so completely shocked since such behavior can only mean one of a few things:

- that lowly life form must have been an orphan all his life since he obviously did not get any manners training from his parents
- that lowly life form must have crawled out from a wrong hole that day, and could not find his way back to the excrement filled hole he calls home

BUT, then i thought, maybe that life form should be most pitied of all men; maybe it was not his fault he grew up as a lowly life form, maybe he could have go on to greater things, learn new mannerisms, learn to be human with limited human life skills.

Reality sank in then; perhaps for that low life, it was already too late. There is zero possibility of recovery. I think even worms have social etiquette, which brings me to conclude that that lowly life form is worst than a worm.

Now, why would a lowly worm impersonate as a human being?

E200, W210 Mercedes Benz

I drive a 1996, E200, W210 Mercedes Benz, which I 'inherited' from the chairman of my company. The Chairman, in turn, bought it from the government when he retired from the civil services many years ago. I guess the car has seen better times.

When i got the vehicle in Nov 2004, the meter showed mileage done at about 15,000km. This is not quite right since the service book showed that the car was last serviced at some 65K KM time frame. Since then, I have changed a lot of components, the most major being a gear box valve controlling the transmission gear box. The electrical systems is a bit hay wired with bulbs being blown on rather regular intervals. The air conditioning control does not allowed air from out side anymore, the light for the gear shift works intermittently, the speakers for the sound system is semi paralyzed.

Latest problem was a leaking steering integral housing, which required a completely new steering housing. This was replaced with a reconditioned unit since a new unit would be simply too expensive for such an old car. Last weekend, i found the reconditioned unit is also leaking. I now have to get the car back to the workshop again...

what to do....

Fishing Off Karang Luas, Pekan

The 2007 fishing year started off with a trip to Karang Luas, off Pekan, Pahang. The dates were 25th to the 27th March, with fishing on 26th and 27th.

This trip was planned and confirmed as early as November last year. As usual, there were a few who could not make it when the actual dates arrived, but in their places were ever willing replacements.

Karang Luas is a huge shallow sea bed with, i presumed, largely coral sea beds. And, the objective of the trip was to use metal jigs of about 40-60grams in weight. We were told this should yield red groupers or such coral delicacies of about 2-5kg.

Look at what we brought up....

A mackerel of probably 5kg

very nice red groupers..

On the whole it was a good trip. The only problem encountered was when one of the vehicles battery failed completely and the car had to be driven without headlights!!
