Ants

Ants are fascinating creatures.

Some facts about ants:
- if all the ants in the world are weighed, they will be heavier than the weight of all humans combined.
- ants can carry up to 20 times their body weight
- the brain of an ant is said to have the same processing power as a Macintosh II

It would seem ants have a very developed social order and some would say, a highly developed civilization, for ants, that is. There are ants that cultivates food, ants that know how to take care of life stock, ants specialising in 'ant care' (child care), ants that are teachers (passing on skills to younger ants), ants that are soldiers, ants that are movers, ants who are engineers, and of course there are the queens, whose job is to lay eggs, thus preserving the species.

fascinating creatures..!!

Sleeveless blouse is NOT decent attire

Something is wrong somewhere when a corporation will not allowed a person, in this case a lady/female i presumed, to attend meetings unless the person is decently attired, ie, must not be sleeveless.

By the same token, i supposed, you could wear an extra short mini skirt, or a low cut blouse, yes you can, BUT, you must NOT be sleeveless.

The world will be a sadder place if the attire of a person is dictated otherwise you are not allowed in for a meeting, which in every sense is attended by working people, businessmen or businesswomen, to discuss business. why should the company be duly worried about whether the other party is sleeveless or not. Is this not another form of slow and gradual 'talibanisation'??

SMS from EONBank????

Just got this SMS purportedly from EON Bank.

Funny thing is, I do NOT have any credit card from EON Bank. I had a credit card with them about 7-8 years ago, but not anymore. And I certainly do not owe them a single sen.

Should I report the SMS to EON Bank? Would anything be done at all? Can anything be done at all?? Who can i report this to??

Industrial Court

The company was taken to Industrial Court by an ex staff who claimed constructive dismissal. The case started some 4 years ago, and finally concluded this week before the judge.

The ex staff was the purchasing executive of the company. And she made purchases from a company belonging to her husband. When confronted, she claimed total ignorance even though there were so many details that would have alerted her that that company was somehow related to her. There were addresses of her apartment, her next door unoccupied house, telephone number registered in her name, her husband hand phone number...

The judge was extremely efficient and obviously read the whole case history. When the ex staff presented her case, the judge asked a few questions, and her whole case crumbled.

Out of compassion and being humane, the company offered a settlement of 3 months lump sum of her last drawn salary.

Too generous or what....????

Sore throat..coughing..headache..

Not sure exactly when all these ailments hit, but hit they did!! I was supposed to be the worship leader in church on the 8th July; absolutely no voice to do it.

Went to see the company's doctor and she gave some antibiotics; the most popular prescriptions by local doctors regardless whether it is needed or not. 'Take 2 pills, three times a day until all consumed'. The funny part was, there were 9 pills in total... Hmmm ..OK... last dosage will just be 1 pill. After all those pills, throat is still a bit sore, cough definitely still present, and voice is still like a frog...

aiyo.....

After waiting for more than 2.5 months, and driving for less than 3 days, the E200K W211 Estate was towed back to the workshop...

Apparently, this version of the E Class came with SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control), a control by wire system for braking. In most vehicles, the brakes work by mechanical means; meaning, the harder and faster you pump the brakes, the faster will the stopping time and shorter will be the braking distance. With SBC, the braking action uses electronic sensors actuating pumping actions. It is supposed to be faster acting by some 3%. BUT, the trade off is that the SBC controller unit must be changed every three years. And hat is what happened to the vehicle. Time's up...

Aiyo...

Tragic accident....

Parents should never have to bury their off springs. That is the natural order of life..isn't it?

Yesterday, after church, we received an SMS from a friend informing that one of our contemporary/age group friend in church was killed when her car rolled on her, killing her almost instantly. The saddest part was, this happened at her house...

Her mum, who is almost 90 years of age, was completely devastated. And who could fault or blame her when faced with such a situation? Mother and daughter has lived together by themselves for sometime now.. To carry on would require strength and courage that is not of this world.

What can one do at times like these? Nothing much except to show genuine care and concern and love...

Finally....

What was supposed to be a maximum 10 working days matter took almost 11 weeks to be settled, but finally, the vehicle was registered yesterday. And yesterday, the old W210 was also sent to the workshop to repair a terribly leaking power steering. The leakage was so bad, that top ups of the steering fluid must be done between trips..!!

Anyway, the guy who sold the W211 E200 Kompressor Estate said in all his 44 years of selling cars, this veicle took the longest ever to get registered. The car was checked twice by Puspakom, twice by JPJ and at least twice by Customs as well. And all due to the simple fact that not one single government official dare to use their brains to make a simple decision.

In Germany, the Estate (or station wagon) is called a Touring (T). And this was stated as such in documents accompanying the car, during inspection by Customs to pay the applicable duties, during inspection by Puspakom (that organisation deserves another story one of these days), and finally some Little Napoleon at JPJ decided that there is no such car. So, they demanded a letter from MITI stating what kind of vehicle was approved to be brought in under the AP system.

And all this took place after at least 4 submissions to JPJ to register the vehicle. And each time, some new requirement would be asked for again.

Ridiculous.

BUT, finally, got the vehicle yesterday, and it is certainly a big change from the old car. A whole lot better....I think i will enjoy this car for sometime to come.

Will it be TODAY?

It has been more than 10 weeks since the order was confirmed. What was supposed to be a 10 days lead time (at the max, or so i was told) has turned into a 10 weeks wait, with lots of promises and 'it will be before this weekend' statements.

So, will it be TODAY??
