A survey...

I thought i should try something different this time and try to get your thoughts and responses.

We have the highly touted PDRM (that is Polis Di Raja Malaysia, in case you don't know). The PDRM, apparently, in days gone by, was a highly respected force internationally. Nowadays, in many opinion polls, it is rated rather lowly. There are many instances and stories from citizens of bribery, extortion, in action.... you name it, there will be someone with a story to illustrate that point.

I thought it would be nice to know what you think our PDRM is best known for.

I will start:

The PDRM is best known for :

1. Escorting VIPs with siren blaring.
2. Escorting funeral hearse.
3. Shooting to kill any suspected criminals.
4. Driving fast without seat belts fastened.
5. Setting up road blocks before any election.
6. Making threats to boycott their duty when challenged.
7. Bribery... which seasoned Malaysian driver does not have a story to tell?
8. .......

....

Care to let me know what you think PDRM does best?

Received...via POS Malaysia

For the first time ever, the bill for electricity from Tenaga was delivered via Pos Malaysia this week. Try to imagine the following:

- The electricity meter reader comes to the house to read the meter
- He then goes back to his office, either key in the data for each household meter reading to calculate the electricity usage or in a more modern setting, let a software do the calculation and printout the charges automatically.
- some other fellow will now take the printout and fold in it to be inserted into an envelope
- some other fellow will now take the whole bundle of envelopes with the bill to be posted
- each envelope will go through the whole post/mail processing and a mail man will now deliver the envelope to the household so that the consumer will now go to pay the bill

In the olden days, the bill will be printed on the spot by the meter reader and just dropped in to the mail box of that house. DONE.

What we now have is a long a d incredibly cost inefficient delivery system. There is extra labor and cost in every stage.

In a swoop, Pos Malaysia has just increased it's revenue by minimum of RM3.60 per household per year. This is an incredible number if every household is involved. Just in USJ2 alone, with a total of some 4000 houses, the number is RM1200 per month.

Why on earth would business today changes procedures/delivery systems only to increase cost and inefficiency is beyond comprehension.

Or is this simply another means to create employment for otherwise unemployable citizens?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Deep sea fishinig off KK Sabah

Updated 17th May 2010

Apart from the fact that an hour into the return flight from KK to KL, we were told we had to return to KK due to a technical problem with the plane, there was really nothing much else that was exciting during the return flight. So, the plane returned to KK without any untoward incident. We had to wait another 1.5 hours before flying off again.

While taxing to the runway for take off, the stewardess started serving 'lunch' because according to them, passengers complained they were extremely hungry. This must have been in contravention of all known FAA/Aviation rules. How on earth can meals be serve during take off?? Anyway, i voiced my displeasure about this and the guys in the group capitalised on this to get booze from the stewardesses. The beer, red wine, gin started flowing thereafter. I think a few of the guys were tipsy by the time we landed in KL. And i thought i heard someone said how they wished the flight would last another 2 -3 hours more...

I also took these photos of a loose part i saw on the wing...

Blow it up closer......

and see how that metal plate is NOT fitting properly? Am pretty sure this is NOT how the plate should fit...

Anyway, thought i had better upload a few photos....

Got back from KK yesterday evening after a 3D 2N of deep sea fishing.
