In any self respecting organisation, when a person charged to perform a certain duty threatens to stop doing that duty simply because he was criticized or questioned, that person who obviously cannot take the heat, should, to preserve self dignity and honour, do the right thing; resign. And if not, the immediate superior should fire him.

The IGP of Malaysia, in responding to the fatal shooting of a 15 year old student, has this to say instead.

""If you do not want the police to enforce the law, then say so," said Musa Hassan.

"I can tell my men to not take any action, including conduct inspections on vehicles or arrest Mat Rempit who ride without licences," he told reporters after launching a blood donation drive at the National Blood Bank in conjunction with the 203rd Police Day celebrations here today.

He was responding to statements by various groups over the death of 15-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah who was shot dead when he allegedly tried to reverse the car he was driving into policemen who had stopped the vehicle in Section 11, Shah Alam.""

How on earth this guy can get away with such a statement is totally beyond me. It is so absolutely childish and simply showed an attitude problem. This guy does not respect the law, he does not respect human dignity, and certainly is not out to find the truth. He simply wants to tell each and every one who dares to question what happened by saying, if you dont like it, too bad.

The Polis is a public institution charged with a certain duty, and if they are beyond questioning and criticism, then we are at the end of the line; they will be a body answering to only themselves and no one else.

If there is no action from the government of the day, then the government has failed miserably.

Death of a MP

In Malaysia, the development and allocations to a Parliamentary will increase exponentially whenever the MP dies and a by election is required to elect the new MP.

Case in point, Hulu Selangor where the intensity and pork barrelling and unabashed distribution of sudden approval of massive allocations to schools, community centers, street lights, clinics, road upgradings, you name it,is being intensely practiced, it would seems the ony way for a region to be even noticed by the government is for the MP to die.

I do not wish to be cruel, but how i wish the MP for Kudat will just resign, and thereby triggering a by election.

I can see how suddenly the government will be aware that Kudat does not have constant pipe water, roads will be resurfaced, street lights will be repaired, hospitals will be given extra funds, and maybe, just maybe, the poorest district in Malaysia will be noticed.

I can only wish, i supposed...

Whats in a name..?

The issue of race=religion=race is perhaps perculiar only to Malaysia, where a Malay is by law, a Muslim.

Perhaps that is why the 'Committee to Promote Inter-Religious Understanding and Harmony ' formed jsu a few days ago is now linked to 'race' and state muftis are calling for a replacement of 'inter-religious' with 'inter-racial.'

Again, race is equated with religion and religion with race.

I suppose to the learned Muftis, all Indians and Hindus, all Chinese are Buddhists, and therefore, to be effective in promoting religious harmony, there need to be only discussion and understanding on the racial level.

The other matter I cannot understand is why are Muslims so easily confused? Are Muslims really so easily confused by a name (Inter Religious....) or are the muftis assuming that the Muslims (meaning Malays?) are so easliy confused?

I personally cannot believe that is the case. I am sure my Muslims friends and colleagues are firmer in their faith and understanding than what the Muftis are alluding here.
